A new scientific-research and service center

Bratislava, November 25, 2015: Yesterday, an Agreement for building of a new scientific-research and service center was signed between ZTE Corporation , Scientific park of Comenius University (CUSP) and the Faculty of Informatics and Information TechnologiesSlovak University of Technology in Bratislava (FIIT STU) . The investment is worth 20 million Euros and aims to create nearly 100 new jobs until the year 2020.

The main objective of the center will be the applied research in information and communication technologies, biotechnology, bioinformatics and related interdisciplinary areas . The new center will not require a public grant. The signing of the agreement came during a summit of "China + 16" in Suzhou (China).

As stated by the dean of FIIT STU Pavel Čičák : "In terms of new technologies and research in applied informatics , China is far ahead of us . If we can pass on some of its know- how to Slovakia and together with our experts to move forward the development, it's a great opportunity for us."

CUSP director, Jan Turňa added: "It is very important that a global technology company ZTE Corporation has decided to build up its scientific research and service center right in Mlynská dolina with CUSP and FIIT STU. The focus of development in the new center will be a multidisciplinary solution between biomedicine and information technologies."

Mr. Ming Li PhD, Vice-president of ZTE Corporation mentioned ZTE has a deep understanding of the ICT developing trends and challenges, which is the common sense of the partners and the needs of its customers. With 20 R&D canters and 108 offices, ZTE is committed to ICT solutions focused on major industries, for public and enterprise customers. With the new service, R&D center established in Slovakia, ZTE will bring our global successful experience and innovation to Slovakia.


Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies STU in Bratislava (FIIT STU) covers a complex area of informatics and information technologies in research and education and is the first faculty in Slovakia with this mission. It was established on the basis of market requirements in 2003 and the part of its study program is formed directly with partner organizations. Currently it educates more than a thousand students in three levels of study (bachelor, master, doctoral).

Science Park of Comenius University (CUSP) was established in July 2015 to increase an innovative attractiveness of Slovakia. Its activities link the academic- scientific field with an industrial and state and as a functional platform enables to create and deliver new, innovative solutions resulting from market needs and the direction of the European Union. CUSP is focused on biomedicine, biotechnologies, enviro-medicine and social sciences.
