Production of recombinant proteins with potential use in pharmaceutical, food or chemical industry
Our focus is the bottom-up approach to design of recombinant protein production starting with in silico analysis of the desired genes and/or proteins followed by design of the most suitable expression system.
After the system is constructed by combining synthetic DNA fragments with extensive collection of plasmids and strains available at the department, the expression of the target gene is analyzed, cultivation conditions are optimized. The process then gets scaled-up to lab-scale bioreactor and the fermentation and protein purification processes are designed and optimized. The final product is stabilized protein with high purity and basic properties tested. Produced proteins can be further used in their structural studies, medical or industrial applications.
