When an idea gets structure. How can you make real progress in 5 weeks?
The Validate programme at the VP UK Incubator is designed to help teams turn an idea into a clear, understandable project and gradually test it in practice. At our mid-point session, we heard how far the participants had moved in five weeks, what the programme topics brought them, and what their next steps will be.
On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, an in-person meeting took place at the Comenius University Science Park with teams participating in the 10-week Validate programme run by the VP UK Incubator. After five weeks of intensive work, each team had the opportunity to briefly present their project again—especially how it has progressed thanks to the programme topics, practical assignments, and expert recommendations.
During the first half of the programme, teams focused on the essential foundations without which an idea will not move into practice: defining the customer problem, identifying customer segments, shaping a clear unique value proposition, and formulating a solution, as well as first thinking about which channels can realistically reach the customer.
It was great to see some teams begin looking at their projects not only from a “scientific” perspective, but also through a business lens: who it is for, what value it delivers, and what the next sensible step is. Several participants significantly clarified who their customer is, what needs and “pains” they have, and how their solution can help in a real, practical way.
The session was built around presentations and an open discussion. Teams asked each other questions, shared observations, and received feedback from other participants. This combination—working on your own project, critical questions, and community feedback—is one of the biggest added values of the Validate programme.
The programme also included a practical session with RNDr. Jaroslav Noskovič, PhD. from the Comenius University Technology Transfer Centre (CTT UK), who introduced the topic of intellectual property protection. Participants learned what can be protected (e.g., a name, brand, selected elements of a solution, know-how, etc.), at what stage it makes sense to apply for a trademark, and what to watch out for before communicating a project publicly. This was followed by discussion, Q&A, and informal conversations over light refreshments.
Validate continues in the coming weeks with practical topics and regular sessions so that ideas can gradually become validated projects with a clear direction.
At the final event on 17 June 2026, you will see how far the teams have progressed over the full 10 weeks. They will present their projects to investors, and during a panel discussion we will explore what truly determines success in practice. The event will be open to students, Comenius University staff, and the public. More information and registration details will be shared soon.
Would you like to move your idea into practice as well? Contact us at inkubator@uniba.sk—we will be happy to suggest a sensible next step and let you know when the next round of the Validate programme opens (again in autumn 2026).
